Design a website with AI: a landing page or engineering office site, from idea to domain
Today you can describe the website you want in plain words and get a working draft in minutes. The hard part is no longer the design, it is everything around it: where the site lives, which domain, how Google finds it, and how it meets Israeli accessibility rules. This guide covers the leading tools, what is really free, and what is worth paying for.
01The analogy: a very fast architect, but no building permit
An AI site builder is like an architect who hands you a beautiful rendering in ten minutes. The rendering is impressive, but there is no house yet: you still need a plot (hosting), an address (domain), utilities (forms and email) and an occupancy permit (accessibility and SEO). AI nails the first step and helps a lot with the rest, but someone has to close the loose ends.
02Two routes: free or paid
Free route: AI draft plus free hosting
- Build the page in Claude (an Artifact) or Gemini Canvas for free and get a complete HTML file
- Publish a public Artifact link straight from Claude, good for drafts and client reviews
- Upload the HTML file to Cloudflare Pages: free, and you can connect your own domain
- Or: a Wix or Canva site on a free subdomain (such as wixsite.com or my.canva.site)
- Google Search Console and Google Business Profile are free and cover basic SEO
Limit: Free plans bring a platform subdomain and branding and small message quotas; Vercel Hobby and GitHub Pages are not meant for a business site
Paid route: stronger AI and your own domain
About 20 USD a month for Claude Pro, plus a site platform if needed (Wix, Framer, Lovable), plus a domain for a few dozen shekels a year

Hosting and domain
Pick hosting that allows business use. Vercel Hobby is for personal use, and GitHub Pages is not meant for running a business. Buy a co.il domain from an accredited registrar.
Basic SEO
A title and description per page, logical H1 and H2 headings, alt text on images, fast loading, and registration in Google Search Console and Google Business Profile.
Right-to-left Hebrew
Make sure lang=he and dir=rtl are set, menus and arrows are mirrored, and numbers and units like kN or mm do not flip. Good fonts: Heebo, Assistant, Rubik.
Accessibility under IS 5568
In Israel, a site that serves the public must meet Israeli Standard IS 5568, based on WCAG 2.0 level AA, and publish an accessibility statement. Small businesses may have exemptions; check with an accessibility consultant.
Design system and brand
One file with logo, HEX colours, fonts and tone of voice. Give it to every AI tool and all pages come out consistent.
Forms and privacy
A form must reach a real inbox and store data securely. Ask for clear consent and do not collect more than you need.

11FAQ
Can I build a business site completely for free?
Almost. Building with Claude or Gemini and hosting on Cloudflare Pages are free. The domain costs money and is worth it: a platform subdomain looks less professional.
What is the website accessibility standard in Israel?
Israeli Standard IS 5568, based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines, at level AA. You also need an accessibility statement on the site. There are exemptions and reliefs for small businesses by turnover, so check with an accessibility consultant. An accessibility toolbar plugin alone does not make a site accessible.
Who owns a site that AI designed?
Usually you can use the output commercially, but check each tool's terms. Be careful with images and logos: use your own photos or properly licensed stock, and do not copy a competitor's design.
Wix or Claude, which is better for a small office?
If someone in the office will update the site, Wix is simpler. If you want a polished, cheap page that you own, go with Claude plus free hosting. You can also combine: plan the copy and structure in Claude, then build in Wix.
The AI wrote that my office is certified to a certain standard. Is that fine?
Only if it is true. AI sometimes invents certifications, figures and client names. Check every fact, technical number and standard against the official document before publishing.
